Two traffic police officials shot dead in Karachi

karachi—Two traffic police officials were shot dead in a targeted attack by unidentified assailants in Ayesha Manzil area of the metropolis on Saturday.
“One traffic police official died on the spot and the other official died while being transported to the hospital,” said rescue sources. Both officials were shot multiple times from close range.
Reports say eight suspects were apprehended from an apartment near Water Pump area of Karachi following killings of two traffic cops.
Police and Rangers jointly raided Nawaz Court apartment located near Water Pump area and detained eight suspects. The police also seized a computer in the raid. The suspects were taken to undisclosed location for interrogation.
“There were four traffic police officials deployed at the Ayesha Manzil traffic section, at the time of attack, two officials had gone for prayers while the other two were performing their duty,” said DIG West, Feroze Shah.
The deceased have been identified as Shakeel and Kamran. Shah added that both police officials were shot in the neck and above, and one of the officials tried to return fire but was shot before he could retaliate. “The traffic police officials were wearing body armour,” confirmed DIG West.
