Two cops among 11 injured in Mardan blast

Mardan—At least 11 persons, including two police personnel, were injured early Tuesday morning in Mardan.
Police said unidentified militants detonated an improvised explosive devise (IED) weighing 600 grammes planted outside a shop at Toru Chowk of Khawaja Ganj Bazaar.
As a result, 11 people were injured while the condition of two, including a police personnel, was stated to be critical.
The injured police personnel were identified as Abu Bakar and Gul Karim.
Security official and local people rushed to the scene of the incident and shifted the injured to district headquarter hospital.
The explosion sent panic waves among the trade and business circles of the city with the shopping and trade centers remaining closed for the rest of the day.
Earlier on May 30, a suicide bomber detonated explosives near a police vehicle in Mardan, injuring at least nine people in the targeted attack.
The bomb disposal unit was called to the spot as another bomb was strapped to a cycle parked nearby and was later detonated in a controlled explosion.
Similarly, on April 19, one person was killed while 17 others injured as a result of a blast during a failed bid by a suicide bomber to enter Mardan Excise and Taxation Department.
