Two more sons of the soil laid their lives on Tuesday to defend the mother land and ensure peace in the region. Second lieutenant Abdul Moeed and Sepoy Basharat of Pakistan Army embraced Shahadat when the vehicle they were traveling in was ambushed by the terrorists in the restive North Waziristan Agency in the morning.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, the military vehicle was fired upon by the terrorists from the surrounding mountains bordering Afghanistan leaving both the men in Uniform martyred on the spot.
The security forces that immediately rushed to the site of the incident shifted the victims to the military hospital, are also reported to have kicked off search and net operation in the area.
The Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has paid rich tribute to the martyred Soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
“ Freedom is not free, it costs sons of the soil. Freedom that we enjoy today is owed to so many such bravehearts. Salute to our martyrs, COAS”. DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghayur tweeted.
Lt Abdul Majeed 21 and hailing from Burewala, Vehari has recently passed out from PMA. Sepoy Basharat also 21 year old had three years of military service, the ISPR said.
It may be recalled that during the last couple of months the terrorists have paced up attacks on the forces and killed and injured several men in uniform including officers in Khyber, Kurram and Waziristan agencies.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi strongly condemned the attack and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls.
“They have sacrificed their most valuable asset for the sake of the homeland. There is nothing material to match up to their sacrifices. As a nation, we will never forget the greatest contributions of our valiant armed forces in the war against the enemies of our country”, he said.
