Tribesmen rendered great sacrifices for peace in entire region: Jhagra

Peshawar—The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices for peace of entire region and sovereignty and integrity of the country adding that their sacrifices will be remembered with dignity. He paid tributes to the Pak Army and security forces for their great sacrifices adding that as a result of this we are heading towards peace.
He said dignified repatriation of all the temporarily dislocated tribal families possible to their native places was the top priority of the government adding that the return process of TDPs has already been started and the repatriation of all the TDPs will be completed till the end of this year. He further said the repatriation process of TDPs from Kurram and Orakzai Agency would be completed in the month of April this year.
He was chairing a high-level meeting of FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) to review the repatriation process of TDPs in FATA here at Governor’s house in Peshawar on Tuesday. Besides Principal Secretary to Gov-ernor, Sikandar Qayyum, DG FDMA, Fayyaz Ali Shah and other relevant officials also attended the meeting. A detailed briefing was also given to the Governor from DG FDMA. The meeting reviewed the repatriation process of TDPs and discussed the prevailing situation in FATA.
During the briefing, the Governor was told that the return process of TDPs has already been started and was going on successfully. The Governor directed the relevant officials to use all available resources for their assistance, rehabilitation and expeditious resettlement adding that no compromise will be tolerated in this regard. He was also briefed that bout 285400 displaced families has already been repatriated to their native homes successfully. It was told in meeting that 114411 families were sent to their homes in the last year. The Governor further told that the repatriation of 27553 displaced families from Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency would be completed in the month of April. It was told the Governor that the amount worth Rs. 3363 million has already been disbursed to the returning TDPs in a dignified manner.
The meeting was briefed on steps being taken for the early return of the internally displaced persons and their re-habilitation. It was also informed that every TDP family was getting Rs 25,000 relief package including Rs. 10,000 through SIMs as traveling allowance as well as 6 months food security in the area of return.
Addressing the meeting, the Governor said that dignified return and rehabilitation of temporarily displaced people (TDPs) was the top priority of the government and steps had been taken to ensure reconstruction and development of the region.
He reiterated the commitment of the incumbent Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Shareef to fight terrorism and ensure the successful and expeditious rehabilitation of TDPs to their native homes. The Governor said that time has come to take concrete measures for the wellbeing of tribal people and to redress their grievances on priority.
He said the government knew problems of tribesmen and efforts were being made to develop the entire region to link Fata people to the mainstream. He said that tribesmen and our security forces had rendered the great sacrifices to ensure peace and stability in the area and their sacrifices in the war against terrorism are highly valuable and well acknowledged and will always be remembered with appreciation.
