Trials held to select KP hockey team

Peshawar—A trials to select Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey team for the forthcoming National Under-18 Hockey Championship held here at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Friday.
Olympian and national selector Musaddique Hussain as head of the selection committee with other members comprising Ihsan Ullah, Yasir Islam, Zia Ur Rehman Binori thoroughly monitored the trials with more than 100 players turned up from all across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
There were six different trials matches to assess the performance of the players before short-listing them for final team. Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association Syed Zahir Shah, Vice President Pakistan Hockey Federation Muhammad Saeed Khan were also present.
He said the team after final selection, will be leaving for Islamabad to participate in the National Junior Under-18 Hockey Championship on May 21 in the afternoon. Syed Zahir Shah said that the organizing secretary of the national championship Muhammad Ramzan Jamali have already completed all arrangements for the smooth conduct of event. He said a total of 16 teams comprising four teams from Punjab, three teams each from Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two teams from Balochistan.—APP
