Tree plantation drive in full swing: Shaikh

Karachi—The Administrator District Municipal Corporation East Rehmatullah Shaikh has said that in anticipation of the upcoming heatwave, a tree plantation drive is being carried out in the district. He stated here Tuesday while talking to media. He informed that some 10,000 sapling had been planted while 2,000 more sapling would be planted in Gulshan-i-Iqbal zone area.
“The aim of planting trees is to mitigate the effect of the heatwave and this exercise will be carried out on permanent basis,” he said during planting a sapling on Ghazi Salahuddin Road.
“Without cooperation of the citizens, a successful campaign will be elusive,” he said. The Administrator visited the nurseries in Gulishtan-i-Johar and Karsaz Road. On the occasion, Director Parks Raza Qaimkhani briefed the administrator about the campaign and growth of the trees.—APP
