The Punjab Aids Control Program (PACP) organized training of Medical Officers and Paramedical Staff on HIV/AIDS case detection, treatment and counselling at District Headquarters Hospital Nankana Sahib on Thursday.
The trainings were participated by staff from DHQ Hospital Nankana Sahib, THQ Sangla Hill and Shah Kot Hospitals. The staff from the healthcare establishments include Medical Superintendents, Surgical Specialists, Pediatricians, Pathologists, Gynecologists, dentists and nursing staff. The trainings covered areas like overview of HIV infection, epidemiology of HIV, transmission dynamics, transmission from mother to children, post-exposure prophylaxis and referral mechanism.
Chief Executive Officer (Health) Nankana Sahib Dr. Umer Farooq and MS DHQ Hospital Dr. Mehmood Afzal participated in the training. The CEO (H) appreciated the initiative by the Punjab AIDS Control Program and said the trainings have prepared the staff on HIV/ADIS care, transmission, treatment and care.
The PACP’s Treatment Coordinator Dr. Tayyaba Rashid led the technical session and Ms. Faiza Nayyer spoke on counselling of patients, issues of stigma and guidelines for caregivers.
