Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that presently training is being given to 1027 Head Masters, who were recruited through IBA Sukkur and as many 800 newly promoted teachers are also being trained.
This he said while talking to a Canadian Delegation, led by Deputy Director Pakistan Development Program Asia-Pacific Branch Christopher Johnston here in his office on Wednesday, said a statement.
He said that two types of teachers training programs are going on as one for in-service teachers and other for pre service teachers.
Jam Mehtab said that under CIDA, Rs 1261.773 millions were being spent to improve teachers training institutions to provide better quality training to the teachers and the program would continue till June 2018.
It needs to be mentioned that the program is in progress in Districts Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Karachi, Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Jacobabad and Kashmore.
On the occasion, the Minister told the delegation that in selected colleges the teachers training program would be launched on Saturdays and Sundays to train maximum number of teachers.
He also briefed the members of the delegation regarding steps taken by Education Department to enhance educational standard in the province.
Meanwhile, the Minister also presided over a meeting in his office.
In this meeting he directed the Secretary Schools and Colleges to intervene in the matter regarding news of disconnection of electricity supply to the educational institutions and solve such issues on priority basis.
He also said that the contractors concerned to complete work on missing facilities within 15 days and in case of failure the action would be taken against them.
Among other notables, Secretary Schools Aziz Uqaili also attended the meeting.—APP
