The massive traffic jam on main GT road in the city is creating a lot of problems for residents, government and semi government employees to reach their respective destinations in time. Once called the City of Flowers, Peshawar is now facing the grave problem of traffic mess where people instead of smelling the fragrance of red roses in ongoing Spring Season, nowadays are inhaling environmental pollution visible even to naked eye.
Traffic jam is almost a routine matter in most parts of the city due to unruly traffic and tsunami of unregistered and smoke emitting rickshaws and deafening horns of old buses plying on different roads are testing the nerves of Peshawarites especially young students, patients, senior citizens and visitors coming from different districts of KP.
Inspite of launching of Traffic Warden System and establishment of U-Turns, long queues of traffic was often being seen in the heart of the city including Hastnagri, Firdus, Shoba, Dabgari Garden, Ganj, Kohati especially during morning and evening, making lives of commuters miserable. Today, a long traffic jam was witnessed at Hasthnagri and Firdus areas on main GT Road where the passengers spent almost three hours on road to cover only 10 minutes distance to reach civil secretariat.—APP
