Tourists Thursday urged the authorities concerned to check price and stander of commodities including different snacks and fried food items which are being sold at different recreational spots. A tourist Rizwan Ahmed said, ’I visited Murree, Naran and Kaghan with my family, there I noticed one plate of french fries were sold at Rs 200 and a single cup of tea at Rs 100 which were too expensive for salaried class.’
Another tourist Amna Hassan said,’ As the season on its peak and a large number of people thronging to different northern areas, this may be the main reason of price hike of food items.’ A shopkeeper at Murree Inaam Ullah said, ‘The reason of selling food items on high rate due to huge crowd specially on weekends.’
According to the officials of administration of Murree and Naran Kaghan, ’Our teams visited different restaurants and make shifts shops to check the prices of different items and asked them to show the price lists of food items.’ He said number of shopkeepers had been arrested for selling substandard food items on much high rates. He said we were trying to control this activity which were causing nuisance for the tourists.
Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Thursday ensured that roads would remain open, leading to various hilly areas including Naran Kaghan, Murree, Saidu Sharif, Shogran, Babusar for the convenience of tourists. Talking to APP an official of PTDC said that the department was in contact with Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) for taking appropriate information to update the tourists about latest weather conditions and the roads overall situation.—APP
