Tomatoes price hike perturbs buyers in twin cities

Tomatoes prices have increased during the last two weeks from Rs 200 to 250 per kilogram which has perturbed buyers in twin cities of Islamabad nad Rawalpindi.
People have to buy this essential item on very high rates.
A shopkeeper in Aabpara market Inaam Ullah said,” Increase in prices of tomatoes is due to gap between demand and supply”.
However, one of the major reasons attributed by the retailers to the enhanced price of the commodity was inflated rates charged by the wholesalers at Subzi Mandi.
“We are compelled to increase prices of tomato after buying it at a higher rate as compared to a few weeks ago when it was available at normal rates,” said another shopkeeper in G-9 markaz.—APP
