The Met office forecast rain and thundershowers with gusty winds in most parts of the country. According to Met office, monsoon currents of moderate intensity were expected to penetrate in upper and central parts of the country from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal during the election period.
Under these weather conditions, rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Lahore, Sargodha, while at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, D.G.Khan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Torghar, Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Bunner, Malakand, Shangla, Swat, Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Mohmand, Bajaur and North and South Waziristan districts for next 24 hours.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has also made adequate arrangements for drainage of rainwater and provide all possible relief to people. The field staff of the WASA will remain in field along with machinery for water drainage, whereas stand-by generators and double feeder system would be employed to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity at all disposal stations in this regard. The high officials of the agency would also monitor the arrangements and relief activities on the day.—APP
