The end of an era

Sakhi Sarwar

It was really sad to hear the sad news of the demise of Mr Zahid Malik, a true lover of Pakistan, Ideology of Pakistan, Islam and the ideals spearhead by Allama Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam for the resurgence of the Muslim Ummah in the context of Pakistan. He devoted all his life for the cause of Islam, Pakistan, invulnerability of Pakistan and actively contributed for the attainment of these objectives. His initiatives and the dynamism to translate the initiatives and ideas into reality may be equalled by few but surpassed by none. Though he wrote a number of books on different subjects ranging from social sciences, political vision and the art of public relations, but he took a very humble and genuine pride in his masterpiece work, Mazameen-e-Quran, which has since been translated in major international languages. He had a firm belief that commitment to Islam, Pakistan and the book Mazameen-e-Quran were the ideals entrusted upon him by the Almighty Allah and the Holy Prophet, Peace Be Upon Him. Mr Zahid Malik bravely fought against Liver Cancer during his treatment in a Beijing hospital where he, despite his painful treatment procedures, worked day and night for the cause of Pakistan, its nuclear programme, the valiant Armed forces of Pakistan, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and establishment of a state of the art cancer hospital in Lahore. His contribution for making Pakistan Observer the premier newspaper of the Federal Capital continues to be a beacon of light for the upcoming media professionals. He was a work-alcohlic of the first order, gifted with a strong will power and was a worth-emulating role model for every saner youth of Pakistan. May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace and grant the bereaved family and his friends strength to bear this shock with fortitude. Aameen!
