The City School System on Wednesday organized a nationwide performance in all its branches to announce its open day. The Open Daywas punctuated by the entertaining “Waggle Dance”, orchestrated simultaneously at 10:15amin all City School branches across Pakistan.
Capital Campus Principal Mr. John Proctor spoke about the initiative and said, “We wanted to announce our open house across Pakistan through a vibrant activity. The City School (TCS), prospective and current parents in Islamabad will see the launch of “sensory rooms” being installed in all of The City School Nurseries across the country. They are really spectacular because they enhance the process of learning through all the senses and it has immediate benefit for students. The rooms are designed to enable children to explore their senses in a magical environment. Using its global presence, The City School continues to draw upon best international practices.”
The honey bee’s Waggle Dance is a sophisticated communication system of one of the most fascinating species on the planet. The teamwork that honey bees employ to make their communities function is only possible by relying on the Waggle Dance as one of the primary means of communication. From playgroup upwards, students at The City School (TCS) learn about bees – how they communicate to find new sources of food and produce honey, all the while cooperating and living in large communities, working towards a common end goal. School is not so very different and at TCS, through exploring and discovering, children find learning is fun.
The Waggle Dance was the perfect opportunity to merge the curriculum with co-curriculum activities, highlighting the significance of creative arts in the growth and development of children. Combining music and dance with their knowledge of bees, the students are enthusiastically participated through dance, aerobics, songs and presentations. An estimated 20,000 students participated in the Waggle Dance nationwide, which in itself is no small feat by small feet.
