Teams constituted for price checking

Islamabad—Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has launched price-checking in weekly Bazaars and markets to ensure availability of fooditems at fixed rates during Ramazan.
Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Mushtaq Ahmed, the ICT spokesman said that special teams have been constituted to curb the profiteering trend with the strict vigilance and regular monitoring of the prices of essential commodities in open market.
He said that price checking teams, headed by the magistrates have been being activated for conducting visits of markets and weekly Bazaars to ensure the availability and smooth supply of fooditems at the fixed rate to the consumers.
The prices of various commodities are being checked at the Sasta Bazaars especially set up to give relief to consumers. He said that special checking teams have been conducted particularly for these Bazaars which would ensure provision of quality items at lower rates.
The spokesman said that some stallholders, selling sub-standard fooditems, have been also fined during last two days and rotten fruits and vegetables were destroyed on the spot.
The profiteers were warned to ensure the display of rate list failing their stalls would be cancelled.—APP
