Teachers advised to focus on students’ character building

Multan—Terming teachers architects of the nation, Punjab Governor, Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana advised them to pay special attention to education and character building of the students. He asked them not to compromise on quality education, saying, “We should always prefer national interests instead of personal motives.”
Rajwana said that uplifting standard of varsities was their priority for which they were utilizing all possible resources. The Punjab Governor was speaking at the ninth senate meeting of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) here on Tuesday. He reminisced that he had had long association with the varsity and attached special importance to it.
The Governor said that as Chancellor, he was trying level best to resolve the issues faced by the varsities in Punjab. Rajwana stressed upon the faculty of BZU to work for further improvement of the varsity ranking. He announced that they would devise a policy to regularize the contractual and daily wages staffers in addition to making a policy for direct selection and promotion cases of the varsity Presenting one year performance after taking charge in October last, BZU VC, Dr Tahir Amin, elaborated the initiatives taken under his administration in length.
He informed that they conducted 5 selection boards under which around 180 faculty members and officers were inducted including 21 per cent PhD holder. As many as five national and international conferences were organized in one year and 45 foreign scholarships were also awarded, Dr Tahir Amin said.
