TDCP arranges ‘Tourism Bus Caravan’ to Taxila

In connection with World Tourism Day celebrated across the country on Wednesday, Tourism Development Corporation Pakistan (TDCP), Regional Office Rawalpindi arranged “Tourism Bus Caravan”, from Rawalpindi to Taxila Museum. According to Deputy General Manager, Rawalpindi Region, Sikandar Hayat, on the special directive of Managing Director, PTDC Ch. Abdul Ghafoor Khan, students of “Anjuman Faiz ul Islam” Faizabad were accommodated and it was a complimentary tour.
The students visited Taxila Museum which is a reflection of the past civilization. Special air-conditioned coaches were decorated to make the journey attractive. A walk was also arranged on Taxila Museum Road to create awareness about benefits of tourism. PTDC also hosted a lunch for the students.
Sikandar Hayat informed, PTDC has been making efforts to promote tourism and educate the people of the region about tourism.
The World Tourism day is celebrated worldwide to make people realize the importance of tourism which not only brings new experiences in lives of the tourists but also provides them opportunity to spare time for recreation and enjoyment, he said adding, tourism also brings freshness and new enthusiasm in the lives of the people. Today, it is the only industry which can promote peace and friendly relationship among the people living in different parts of the world, he added.
All PTDC offices and resorts throughout Punjab were instructed to generate different activities for promoting tourism in the province in connection with World Tourism Day, he said.—APP
