The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and the district administration Swat are jointly organizing a three-day snow festival in the scenic tourist resort Malam Jabba from Friday, March 3, 2017.
Speaking at a meeting here Wednesday, Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said that organizing the “Swat Snow Festival†was aimed at bringing the serene spots, including Malam Jabba, Madyan, Bahrain and elsewhere in the valley, back to life and attracting tourists to these destinations.
“Skiing, paragliding, tobogganing, playland, music show, and setting up food and handicrafts stalls are also main features so the visitors could fully enjoy the festival,” the official told the meeting.
Secretary Sports and Tourism Muhammad Tariq, General Manager Administration, Sajjad Hameed, Senior general Manager Hayat Ali Shah and others attended the meeting.
Tobogganing is being organised for the first time at the event. Tobogganing is a simple sled and a traditional form of transport. In modern times, it is used on snow to carry one or more people (often children) down a hill or other slope for recreation.
According to organizers, stalls of local cuisines, handcrafts, traditional dresses would be established to showcase culture of the province.
