Tailors minting money ahead of Eid

Islamabad—Tailors are seen busy in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as it is time to make money ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
As preparations for festival of Eidul Fitr gain momentum, the tailors have increased their charges to earn more in the name of emergency booking. Tailors are working round-the-clock to complete the orders and receive new orders in the remaining days, said Farhan Khan, a resident of G-7.
Fazal Khan another resident said that every person prepares new dress for Eidul Fitr, adding that tailors are seen busy like bees in markets; streets and even some are busy at their homes.
Some tailors put up banners saying that ‘booking is closed’ to demand extra and higer rates for booking.
The costumers have complained that tailors use tricks to earn more in the name of rush and emergency booking as the rates of stitching are already so high and now with Eid just 10 days away tailors are asking around Rs 700 to Rs 1,000 for stitching of male suit.
People have to compromise with these high prices out of compulsion because they have to celebrate Eid with their family members at any cost.
Ramazan is the peak season for tailors as almost all people wear new clothes on Eidul Fitr.
“In this month, we book maximum orders and start working round-the-clock to earn a handsome amount and save some money for the rest of the year,” said Faheemullah a tailor at G-7/3 Markaz. With so much work at hand, the tailors are believed to work for many hours without having any break and some of them usually work these days until Sehri.—APP
