The Punjab AIDS Control Program (PACP) and University of the Punjab organized a Symposium on Awareness on HIV/AIDS at the University’s Al-Razi Hall, New Campus, here.
Renowned poet and writer Amjad Islam Amjad gave away cash prizes to winners of fiction writing and poetry competition among students of the University.
Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab Dr. Zafar Mueen Nasir and Additional Secretary (admin) Dr. Adnan Zafar, who is also Program Director Punjab AIDS Control Program, were the guests of honour.
Reading out his poetry to the delight of the students and the faculty, Amjad Islam Amjad said: “The PACP and University of the Punjab have taken a great initiative – the educating right people at right age”. Director PACP Dr. Adnan Zafar Khan said people may get infected accidentally. “HIV/AIDS patients need care and attention, and we need to understand that people can get infected sometime without a fault of their own,” said Dr. Adnan Zafar Khan.
Associate Professor Lahore University of Management Sciences Dr. Syed Shahzadul Hassan gave a presentation on the nature of virus and its way of affecting humans. He shared latest research in vaccine development and further said that advancement has been made in vaccine development and trials and experiments are already underway.
