Swat gets representation

DAYS of speculations, lobbying within PTI finally ended on Wednesday when Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Imran Khan nominated former Provincial Minister for Sports Mahmood Khan, MPA-elect from Swat, as the new Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and one expects that nominations on other important portfolios will also be announced by the Party without any further delay.
As far as nomination of CM, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Swat is concerned, we understand the Party Chairman has made the right decision keeping in view how people of Swat along with the security forces bravely fought the scourge of terrorism and brought back normalcy to the area. Mahmood Khan’s nomination indeed is an acknowledgement of these valuable sacrifices. The nomination from a backward area also indicates that Party has the commitment and desire to address grievances of neglected areas. As the PTI enjoys two-thirds majority in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan is all set to become the next CM and one expects that he will give top priority to the reconstruction and rehabilitation of people in Swat. Such a course will not only be in line with the vision of Imran Khan but also help further improve image of the Party in the area where it secured three National and eight Provincial Assemblies’ seats. Mahmood Khan is a well-educated person and also has necessary experience to run the government and he has been given reign of the province to make sure that the entire province, both urban and rural, is treated fairly and sincerely.
Now it is time that the provincial leadership leaves no stone unturned to live up to people’s expectations while learning from the past lapses and gaps. Over the past five years, the PTI government indeed did bring improvement in the health and education sectors but still a lot more needs to be done in the two sectors to bring a visible change in the life of the people. All the district level hospitals should be equipped with modern equipment as well as well-trained manpower so that people are able to get quality medical treatment in their own province. Proper waste management system should be introduced not only in Peshawar but also in other major urban centres. The youth of the province greatly adore Imran Khan and it is time that his government fully gears up to meet their expectations by creating job opportunities both in public and private sectors. Then special focus should also be laid on exploiting the hydel potential of the province and that indeed will be a service to the entire country.
