Strategy being adopted against corruption: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Amjad Javed Saleemi Monday said that a strategy was being evolved to ensure welfare of the force, elimination of corruption from the department and implementation of strict accountability system.
Addressing the delegation of 22 ASPs of 45th common here at Central Police Office, the IGP said that for the very first time, transfers and postings of the officials were being made with their consent.
He further said that Internal Accountability System was being strengthened for the elimination of corruption from the department and a strong accountability system would be introduced after the proposals and recommendation of the field officers for this purpose.
He said that if involvement of any one among the force surfaced in facilitation of land grabbers, misuse of powers and high handedness would be dealt strictly.
Amjad Javed Saleemi said that investigation system was also being re-modified and upgraded while investigation officers would be recruited through Public Service Commission and the process would be completed within five to seven months.
He said after the completion of recruitment process all these officers would be deputed in investigation branches across the province.
The PPO discussed that the petty issues and fake complaints not only waste the time of the law enforcing agencies but also moved the complainant towards litigation which is time consuming and waste of money. He said that for the settlement of petty disputes amicably Alternate Dispute Resolution Committees were being established at district level across the province which would be thana based having separate room to address the petty grievances of the public.
He said each committee would be comprising of 21 persons including the notables of the concerned district, well reputed and retired judges, professors, religious scholars, lawyers, senior journalists and public representatives. These committees would also had the legal cover. To a question regarding the murder of Maulana Samiul Haq, the IGP said that his murder was not terrorist act. The police was investigating the case and when the investigation gets completed it would be shared with media.
