Standing Committee on Railways visits Dry Port, Shalamar Hospital

Lahore—Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Railways Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hassani stressed for starting new joint ventures like Prem Nagar Dry Port for development of communication and transportation and facilitating businessmen in the country.
During visit of the Committree on Tuesday to Prem Nagar Dry Port being operated by Marine International Container Terminal (Pvt.) Limited, Dubai Port World and Pakistan Railways,the chairman hailed the joint venture for facilitating businessmen at Prem Nagar Dry Port.
He said that Railways and different business groups should start more joint ventures in all the big cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Faisalabad to promote import and export before starting China-Pak Economic Corridor.
Assistant General Manager Pakistan Railways Maqsood-un- Nabi and Manager Operations Dubai Port World Mahmood Akhtar briefed the committee about the development and operations of the dry port.
The chairman also sought a copy of the Prem Nagar Dry Port agreement signed by Pakistan Railways and DP World and directed that participation of FBR representatives must be ensured in the next meeting.
Sardar Fateh Muhammad Muhammad Hassani also directed the railway officials to strengthen railways tracks between Gawadar and Sahiwal for providing best transportation facilities to Qadirabad Coal Power Project in Sahiwal.
Earlier, during Senate Standing Committee visit to different departments of Shalimar Hospital constructed on 18 acres land of Pakistan Railways, the chairman asked the hospital management to provide free of cost medical facilities to Pakistan Railway poor employees.
