The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hyderabad Adeel Chandio has informed that the District Police had finalized a comprehensive security plan to maintain law and order on polling day of general election. Besides Army and Ranger, a total of 4500 Policemen would be deployed at 850 polling stations to be set up in the district on election day, he informed this while talking to media persons at a reception hosted in his honour by Hyderabad Press Club on Monday.
He said that out of 850 polling stations, 95 have been declared highly sensitive and 220 as sensitive polling stations. According to plan, six Policemen would perform duty at each highly sensitive polling stations, five at sensitive polling station and four Policemen would be deployed at each normal polling stations. He said that maintenance of law and order during election campaign and on the polling day was his prime target and in this regard all out efforts are being made to ensure peaceful atmosphere in Hyderabad.
The SSP said that the visits of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Ameer Jamat Islami Sirajul Haq were the major events in the district and the Police had received prior applications from the concerned therefore effective security measures were adopted during their rallies. He said that though the anti-social elements had taken advantage during the course of transfers.—APP
