Colombo—Former Foreign Affairs Minister and top Joint Opposition spokesman Professor G.L. Peiris told the media that the country was heading towards a controversial referendum to approve a new Constitution.
Prof. Peiris asserted that the proposed referendum was likely to be held in february 2017. Responding to a query by “The Island” Prof.Peiris alleged that the UNP-SLFP coalition government had been working in unison with the Geneva-based United National Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to bring in a new constitution.
