Lahore—Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital Prof. Khalid Mahmood has said that a civilized nation can not be imagined without abiding by traffic rules. Discipline, law observing and education have become need of the hour for us to rise in the comity of world nations.
He expressed these views while delivering a special lecture to the students here on Sunday. He said that use of cell phone and one wheeling can become cause of fatal accidents for the motorbike riders. He was of the view that to stop at the traffic signals, not to break the queue and use of helmet during riding motorbike are as important as air and water are essential for life. Unfortunately, our young generation has adopted dangerous trends as fashion which has damaged our image as an enlightened and cultured nation, he said.
Prof. Khalid Mahmood further said that as young contributors to nation, students must resolve to act upon the traffic laws so that not only accident rate could be dropped but we may be able to discharge our national obligations as well. He stressed upon the parents and teachers to fulfill their duties by guiding young generation about traffic discipline. Prof. Khalid Mahmood also suggested that there must be a special lecture on importance of traffic rules in every educational institution on weekly basis.
