Some continue to raise dust against CPEC

CHIEF Minister KP Pervez Khattak seems to be incorrigible as far as his anti-China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) stance is concerned. In line with the direction he has received from his party chief Imran Khan to whip up propaganda campaign against the fate-changer project, the CM, on Monday convened a meeting of the Parliamentary leaders in Provincial Assembly where it was decided to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and demand due share for KP in the projects under CPEC. In a related development, Senate Standing Committee on Communication, which is dominated by a particular mindset, has also raised hue and cry over alleged non-release of funds for Western route of the Corridor.
All this comes just within few days of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s launching of Havelian-Thakot motorway project and other facilities under CPEC in Mansehra. This makes it clear that the purpose of the critics is not to secure interests of KP people but only to create obstacles in the way of smooth implementation of the project. Of course, there are interest groups in every country that work for safeguarding of their rights and in Pakistan too such groups can plead for their cause but all this should be within civilized means and must not fall in the realm of obstruction. We would point out such elements that wisdom has dawned on people of Pakistan, who understand machinations of vested interests especially vis-à-vis CPEC. People of Pakistan are convinced that the project would benefit people in all the four Provinces, Azad Kashmir, GB and FATA and therefore, no attempt should be made to create obstacles in the way of huge investment of 46 billion dollars by China in different sectors of Pakistan’s economy.
