Several trains were delayed after heavy smog engulfed the Multan division making visibility almost minimal and bringing the morning traffic to a sluggish pace. According a railway official, about 30 Multan bound up and down trains, coming from Peshawar, Karachi, Rawalpindi and others got delayed for two to three hours.
Four trains which started their journey from Multan, including Musa Pak, Zakariya Express, Mehr Express and Multan Express, also got delayed, he added. Chief Controller of Trains Operation Yusuf Dogar said the smog was expected to be cleared till Monday and advised the passengers to check the trains schedule in advance.
Pakistan Railways has leased out 6496 acres railway land across the country to different departments and private persons to generate extra revenue during last three- year. “The land was leased and licensed out for various purposes including premium shops, stacking, agriculture and parking stands etc,” an official in the Ministry of Railways told APP.—APP
