Islamabad—Former Minister Raja Shahid Zafar Lauded the role of Mehmood Ul Haq Alvi as a great phillinthropist and leading figure of so-cial welfare sector. He was addressing the launching ceremony of “ Khamosh Flah Kar. Mehmood Ul Haq Alvi ki Dastan.e.Isar” written by Air Comodore (Rtd) Prof Aslam Bazmi arranged by Ali Trust Pakistan here the other day.
Quoting example of Alvi’s human aspect, he said that when Gakar Plaza Rawalpindi and F/10 Flats were collapsed and various agencies were asking millions rupees for clearance but Alvi’s construc-tion company “HAKAS” did these clearance job without claiming a sin-gle penny. Lt Gen (R) Faiz Ali Chisti said that Mr. Alvi established Ali College Near Khana Bridge Islamabad where students were admitted from Gwadar to Skardu on purely merti and humantarian grounds.
Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi said that late Alvi was symbol of interfaith and sectarian harmony. He constructed more than fortyone mosques of all sects in far flying areas. Hamid Mir Said that late Alvi never liked per-sonal publicity for his welfare activities. He said that Ali college is a mini Pakistan. Irfan ul Haq Alvi thanked the participants and assured on behalf of his three brothers Ali Raza, Ali Omar and Ali Hyeder that they will continue the welfare and humanitarian mission of their late father. Mian Mohammad Rafiq MPA from Toba Taik Singh and Malik Javaid Awan MPA from Khushab demanded that Prime Minster Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif should announce Sitara Imtiaz for Mehmood ul Haq Alvi. Prof Dr Nadeem Hayat head of the cardiology institute Pun-jab, Eng Abdul Raza and Haji Abdul Latif said that Mr. Aslam Bazmi’s book is a research paper about the life long contributions of a great philin-thropist who was not less than Abdul Satar Edhi.
Dr Shahab uddin Darrai Cultural Counsellor of Iran read fateha and prayers for eternal peace of late Mehmood ul Haq Alvi. A large number of elites from all sectors of society belonging to various parts of Pakistan attended the ceremony.
