ISLAMABAD : Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has welcomed the constitution of a Supreme Court bench to hear the cases against the 436 other people named in the Panama leaks and has expressed the hope that those plundering public money would soon meet their doom.
He was talking to the media after the Senate session on Friday.
The JI chief congratulated the National Assembly members for restoring the clauses pertaining to the Khatm e Nubuwwat in their original form and said that such a sensitive issue should have been resolved much earlier.
Earlier, when the bill was moved in the Senate after its passage by the National Assembly, the JI chief raised a point of order that the clauses being restored did not include the wording for the preparation of the electorate lists on the basis of joint electorate, and stressed for the inclusion of these words.
Upon this, the Federal Law Minister explained that the two paragraphs relating to the Khatm e Nubuwwat had been restored in their original form. However, he said that if there was still any ambiguity, it would also be removed. Upon this, the JI chief said that had this been done earlier, the nation would have been saved the agony it had to suffer during the last month.
Sirajul Haq posed a question as to how a person who had been disqualified by the Supreme Court and who was debarred from being elected to the parliament, could be elected as the head of the majority party or the ruling party in the house. He said that this was clear violation of the constitution and the decision of the apex court and an insult to the court. He said that there was no dearth of people in the ruling party and it should choose someone else as its leader.
Sirajul Haq said that the JI MNA Sahibzada Tariqullah, who initially pointed out the conspiracy to drop the clauses related to the Khatm e Nubuwwat, deserved appreciation. He said that the general public which also fully supported the restoration of the clauses on Khatme Nubuwwat, also deserved commendation.
However, he called for exposing the elements behind the conspiracy and for awarding them deterrent punishment. He said that the government was protecting the conspirators.
