Sindh’s Minister for Local Governments Saeed Ghani visits KATI

Provincial Minister for Local Governments Sindh Saeed Ghani said that projects for additional water for Karachi are under consideration, we have come to the conclusion that only desalination plants could provide solution to water shortage crisis in the city.
While addressing a gathering of Industrialists and Trader and Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Saeed Ghani assured that to address business community problems would be the first priority of PPP government in Sindh, under the direction of party’s Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Prior to this Patron in Chief of KATI SM Muneer and President Tariq Malik welcomed that minister at association’s headquarter. SM Muneer said that for the development of Pakistan Industry should be the first priority of governments at every level.
President KATI Tariq Malik said that performance of departments, related to municipal services and local administration, wasn’t satisfactory at all. He noted that basic problems of Karachi now turned into a huge crisis and situations are getting worse day by day.
The Minister said that we are working on projects for additional water for Karachi, apart from other underway projects. He said told that we have come to the conclusion that Desalination Plants would be the only solution available to water shortage crisis in the city.
He said that until the low priced houses schemes wouldn’t be launched, encroachment, land grabbing and KACHI Abadi will remain there. Saeed Ghani told that maximum low priced houses would be provided in upcoming five years. He also said that Mega projects in Karachi will be constructed on yearly basis. The minister also offered to make facility centers for Industry where offices of all related local government department and utility providers would put under one roof.
On this occasion head of KATI’s standing committee on local governments and Chairman & CEO of KITE Zubair Chhaya briefed the minister regarding problems faced by Korangi Industrial Area.
He appreciated the measures of CM Murad Ali Shah for the development of Industrial zones as he issued Rs 9 billon for the purpose in his previous tenure. Chaya said that performance of KW&SB is one of the deepest concern of Industrialists, to reform this some big decisions should be taken immediately.
He also asked the minister to resolve approval of Industrial units construction maps pending at SBCA. Chaya also urged to make functional Traffic Engineering Bureau. Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Senior Vice President of KATI Salman Aslam, Vice President Junaid Naqi, Former Presidents Masood Naqi, Zahid Saeed, Farhan-ur-Rehman and others were also expressed their views on the occasion.—NNI
