The Makhdoom Mueen Library at Thatta Press Club was alive with literary fervor as the Sindhi Adabi Sangat branch in Makli organized a captivating poetic session, drawing enthusiasts and luminaries from across the region. The event, presided over by esteemed Sindhi poet Iqbal Shaheen, celebrated the rich poetic traditions of Sindh and explored the evolving landscape of Sindhi poetry.
In a mesmerizing lecture, Shaheen illuminated the audience on the diverse genres and profound literary heritage of Sindhi poetry. Drawing inspiration from Shah Latif Kanothi’s metaphorical depiction of Sindhi poets as eternal blossoms, Shaheen underscored the enduring significance of Sindhi poetry in the cultural fabric of the region.
Highlighting the versatility of Sindhi poets, Shaheen praised their mastery of various poetic forms, from prose poems to tirawat and manqabat. He commended contemporary poets for infusing fresh perspectives and innovation into the poetic canon while seamlessly integrating foreign poetic genres into Sindhi poetry.
The session also featured renowned journalist Ismail Memon, who announced an upcoming article exploring the intersection of journalism and literature, adding another layer of intellectual discourse to the gathering.
A series of captivating recitations further enriched the session, with Sajjad Memon, Muhammad Khan Mallah, Faqir Akram, Nabi Bakhsh Bharani, Jasarat Ilyas Jokhio, Amjad Durrani, Noor Sarai, Maru Khush, and Sindhu Sindhi, each contributing their unique poetic expressions.
