Sindh govt to encourage investment in alternative energy projects: Imtiaz

Sindh Minister for Energy Imtiaz AhmedSheikh Tuesday said the government would fully support the local and international investments in alternative energy projects.
Addressing a meeting with the officers of the Sindh Energy Department, the minister said work on many solar energy projects was underway in the province and the government would promote the production of alternative energy.
He said the Sindh government was continuously in touch with the federal government and private sector for the purpose. To overcome the power crisis, promotion and adoption of alternative energy was the need of the hour.
The meeting also discussed the international workshop on solar home system to be held on October 3 (Wednesday) at a local hotel, organised by the Sindh Energy Department in collaboration with the World Bank.
Sindh Energy Department Secretary Rashid Hussain Qazi informed the meeting that the workshop would be inaugurated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. He said World Bank Country Director Illango Pitchamutnu, Minister for Energy Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh, World Bank Senior Energy Expert Oliver Knight, Director Alternate Energy Board Mehfooz Qazi and others would also address the workshop.Addressing a meeting with the officers of the Sindh Energy Department, the minister said work on many solar energy projects was underway in the province and the government would promote the production of alternative energy.
