Sindh Govt replaces IG, Centre refuses to accept

Sindh government, for long wanting to have an IG Police of its own choice, removed the IG Police A D Khawaja from his post on Saturday, appointing Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti, currently additional IG, Research, Development, and Inspection as acting IG Sindh Police.
But its decision has initiated a new conflict between the province and the Centre as the Federal government observed that the Sindh government had acted against the rules.
On Friday, the Sindh administration had addressed a communication to federal government asking to replace Inspector General A D Khawaja with a new one. It informed Islamabad, it was returning Khawaja to Federal government and submitted a list of three senior police officers for selecting of one.
They are Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti, Gulam Qadir Thebo, now chairman, anti-corruption, and Khadim Hussain Bhatti, additional IG Traffic.
Chances for the appointment of Ghulam Qaidr Thebo appeared brighter than that of others. A D Khawaja, had fallen from the grace few months ago, but was ordered back to his post by the Supreme Court. He is reputed for his honesty, proficiency, and competence, but perhaps the Sindh government wants someone more cooperative and submissive.
