Sindh Govt finalises draft for running municipal institutions

Karachi—Sindh government has finalised a draft for the conduction of City Council, the house of elected representatives from local government system. The draft has been despatched to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah for approval after which the draft would be tabled in Sindh Assembly (SA) as Bill for its passage from the SA.
According to details, the draft has proposed to hold for seven days in case of ‘No Confidence’ against any elected Chairman and Vice Chairman and a one-third majority would be required to proceed for the same.
The draft also carries guidelines for running the district municipal corporations, Towns Administrations and Union Councils. The municipal institutions would be legally bound for meeting once in a month and the Mayor and Chairman of the Council would have the legal authority to summon the meeting/ session of the Council.
Any session for meeting any emergency could be summoned over a notice of 3 days while ordinary session could be summoned over a notice of 4 days.
