Sindh govt approves grant of over Rs 500m for Karachi University

The Sindh government has approved a grant of 502.1 million for the University of Karachi, an official of the institution said on Sunday.
He stated that amount would be utilized for revamping of water and sewerage system of the campus.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ajmal Khan has expressed his gratitude to the Sindh Government and especially Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in this regard and hoped that the grant will be released shortly.
This is the first time in the history of the varsity that a proper water and sewerage system will be installed, the University official maintained.
He said that Dr. Ajmal Khan soon after taking charge took personal interest in this issue and now this has been approved and funds will be released from the Sindh government shortly. Moreover, Sindh government also issued the grant of Rupees 100 million in the last financial year which has been received by the varsity.
Recently, federal and provincial governments have also approved the proposal of establishment of a medical college and hospital at Karachi University for which the Vice Chancellor has also expressed gratitude towards the federal government and especially the Governor Sindh/Chancellor KU while President Mamnoon Hussain has also given a fund of Rupees 10 million.
‘I have also committed to substantially reduce our expenses and resolve the financial crisis, fortunately the results are evidently positive and satisfying clearly indicating the fact we are heading towards the right direction, Dr. Ajmal said in this regard. —APP
