Chairman Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Saturday said that government should have working relation with the opposition to carry out legislation. He said this while addressing at a ceremony at the party’s central secretariat, where he launched the membership drive for the intra-party election. He said that government and opposition were two same pillars and urged the government to maintain good relations with opposition for effective legislation.
Aftab Sherpao said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produced more gas and electricity than its consumption but the province faced severe gas and power outages, which was a great injustice. He said his party was making efforts to unite the Pakhtun nationalists in a bid to solve the problems being faced by the Pakhtuns. The QWP leader rejected surge of medicine prices and said it would create problems for the downtrodden segments of the society and limit their access to healthcare facilities.
Turning to Afghanistan, Aftab Sherpao called for an all-inclusive peace talks to bring peace to the war-strife country. He cautioned that Afghanistan could lead to a civil war if the Afghan government was not included in the parleys. He said Afghanistan should be included in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC0 project. He said the capital should take steps to remove trust-deficit and jack up the trade volume between the two brotherly countries.
The QWP leader said the visa regime should also be relaxed and the Afghans provided medical treatment facilities. He said government should accelerate the FATA merger process, adding that there was constitutional and legal vacuum after the court struck down the Interim Fata Governance Ordinance.
