Shekhandeh team clinches Indigenous Sport Festival trophy

Chitral—Indigenous Sports Festival of snow golf finalized at scenic valley of Kalash at Shekhandeh, Chitral district.
The final match was played between Shekhandeh (Muslim community) team against Broon (Kalash community) team in which Shekhandeh team defeated Broon team by hitting a longest drives.
Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Bibi Fauzia was the chief guest on the occasion who awarded trophy to the players. The tournament was organized by Culture Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ayun and Valley Development Program and KPDN. Major Yasir of Pak Army, SHO police station Bumborat Abdul Fateh were also present.
As a prescribed rules of the Games since 1100 years, captain of the winning team was declared as King (Mehtar) for three-day of the valley and all residents of the valley are bound to obey his order for three-days.
Talking to this scribe newly chosen King (Mehtar) Abdul Jameel of Shekhandeh said that he was selected as Mehtar for three days and he will try to engage his people in repairing of roads, stream, water channel and other social activities.
I will also settle disputes among different rival groups and to take back their rights from other group if that was taken by force or illegally, he added. According to the rules, he will also sacrifice a bull for the people as grand Darbar.
Addressing the gathering, MPA Bibi Fauzia said that being a parliamentarian, she would ask Secretary Tourism Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to include the historical festival in the annual calendar so that to organize every year. Golf, a snow hockey event was also organized with different teams of the valley.
