‘Shehr-e-Kitab’ attracts book readers

Islamabad—Newly established scheme of National Book Foundation (NBF) “Shehr-e-Kitab” is attracting a large number of people from twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. “Shehr-e-Kitab” was established in Sector F-7 with around 28 books stalls set up by prominent publishers of the country.
An official of NBF told APP that the scheme was started with public-private partnership, which would generate income (rent) of Rs 5 million annually.
He said that the Foundation is promoting country culture, disseminating knowledge and inculcating book reading habit.
He further said that books and art bring tranquility, harmony and softness in our minds which lead to the path of peace and love in the society.
The visitors of Shehr-e-Kitab appreciated NBF for establishing specific place for the books readers in the capital city. They said that establishment of Shehr-e-Kitan here in Capital is completely cause oriented and ideally suited for promotion of our national literary heritage, literacy, education and book culture among all and sundry at each nook and corner of our country.—APP
