Shehbaz reviews priorities of Punjab budget

Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says public welfare and progress of Punjab will be the priority of the government during next fiscal year. Billions of rupees will be spent on the uplift schemes. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting here through video conference from London . The meeting reviewed in detail priorities of the new budget and important projects under Annual Development Programme.
Shehbaz Sharif said measures would be taken for the development of agriculture sector and welfare of cultivators while additional funds will be allocated for the uplift for education and health sectors.
A network of carpeted roads is being laid in rural areas under Pakian Sarkan—Saukhey Painday Programme.
He said Saaf Pani Project has been started from south Punjab and funds of billions of rupees will be provided for this purpose. He said that capacity building of departments and institutions is essential for timely utilization of funds. District headquarter hospitals will be upgraded to provide quality health facilities to the patients.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif while presiding over a meeting through video link from London has granted approval to reorganization of Punjab Minerals Development Corporation Punjmin.
Addressing the meeting, he said that Punjab Mineral Development Corporation will have to be set on modern lines in a professional manner. He said that restructuring of PUNJMIN will be made under a phased programme. He said that capacity building of Punjab Mineral Development Corporation is need of the hour and leasing system of mines will have to be made transparent.
He said that protection of mineworkers is essential therefore no compromise would be made on protective measures for mineworkers. He directed to constitute a high-level committee for reorganization of PUNJMIN and added that Provincial Minister Rana Sanaullah will be head of the committee.
