Sharif family sentence challenged in LHC

A petition against the
sentence of former
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar was submitted in Lahore High Court on Wednesday, seeking to nullify the punishment of them.
The plea has been lodged by Lawyers’ Foundation for Justice through renowned advocate, AK Dogar. Three-time premier was sentenced according to such a law which became void after the 18th amendment. LHC has been requested to declare punishment of Sharif Family null and void.
On July 6, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to 10 years in prison and slapped a £8 million fine, while his daughter Maryam was sentenced to seven years with a £2 million fine in the Avenfield properties reference. Nawaz’s son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar was given a one year sentence. On July 9, Captain Safdar, was shifted to Adiala Jail.
Captain retired Safdar was presented in the court of Judge Muhammad Bashir.
