A high level meeting held under Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here today to review progress on steps taken to empower women and celebrations to be held in connection with Women International Day.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said the women of Pakistan are very talented and they have proved their talent in every field of the life. He said the women constitute the big portion of the population and the women should be made more and more empowered for progress in the country.
He said the Punjab government has taken many exemplary steps to bring the women to the mainstream and practical measures have been taken for the development of the women folk.
He said Danish schools have provided top quality education facilities to the women belonging to the poor families and with the financial support of the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund women are serving the nation after becoming doctors, engineers.
He said comprehensive legislation has been made for the empowerment of the women and effective measures have been taken to ensure inheritance rights to the women.
Shahbaz Sharif directed the formation of the four sub committees to finalize activities on Women’s Day and said these committees will present their recommendations. Provincial minister Zakia Shahnawaz, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Hameeda Wahiduddin, Women Parliamentarians, Adviser Dr. Umer Saif, Additional chief secretary, concerning secretaries and officials attended the meeting.
