Shah Hussain to face Qatari judoka in Asian C’ship

Islamabad—Pakistan’s Olympic hope Shah Hussain will face challenge from Qatar’s Reda Nafwa on Saturday in men’s -100kg weight category of the ongoing Asian Judo Championships 2016 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
“The contest is going to be very important for Shah, who needs respectable finish to qualify for Rio Olympics,” Secretary Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) Masood Ahmed Khan told APP on Friday.
If Shah, who is currently world number 48 out of 248 athletes in the International Judo claims a medal in the Championship, he would have a perfect chance to earn a spot in the Rio Olympics.
“If he clicks and wins bronze, he’ll be the first Pakistani judoka to represent the country in Olympics,” Masood said.
It may be mentioned here that besides Shah, the federation has sent two other judokas – Qaisar and Sammiullah for the Asian Championship.
Qaisar will fight against Afghan judoka Muhammad Zaher Sarwai on Saturday, while Samiullah suffered defeat from China’s Yu Kin-ting in -60kg weight category on Friday.—APP
