Brother shoots sisters dead over property dispute; 2 killed in police encounter

At least seven members of a family including women and children died in collision between two over speeding vehicles here on Monday, police said. The accident took place at Zhob Road in tehsil Daraban Kalan of Dera Ismail Khan where an over speeding truck and collided head-on.
Six people including two women and two children died on the spot while a minor girl was injured. The bodies and injured were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital where the wounded girl also succumbed to their injuries. The police impounded both vehicles and after registering a case into the incident started an investigation.
A man shot dead his two sisters over property dispute in the area of City Jaranwala police station. Police said on Monday that Arif, resident of Bilal Park area wanted to get transferred the share of his sisters from inherited property but both girls refused to do so. Over the issue, Arif got enraged and opened fire at them. Both the sisters Nazia and Shazia sustained bullet injuries and died on the spot. The police have shifted the bodies to mortuary for postmortem and started investigation.
Meanwhile, in Dadu two robbers were killed and arms recovered after exchange of fire with CIA police here on Monday. Incharge CIA Police Iftikhar Rehmani said that the encounter took place in Taluka Mehar of Dadu during an operation against criminals, he added that the robbers started firing and police retaliated the firing which led to an encounter.
In firing of police two notorious robbers wanted by police in dozen of cases were killed and a repeater, two pistols and several rounds were recovered. The police confiscated the recovered weapons and the bodies were shifted to hospital for postmortem.
Meanwhile, it is reported from Sargodha that a labourer was killed while another sustained injuries during blasting of stone at hills in the precincts of Sillanwali police station.
Police said on Monday that Basharat Ali and Mumtaz were working at Block No. 5 Hill No. 123 at Chak 126/SB when they suffered injuries during blasting stones. The injured were shifted to hospital where Basharat Ali succumbed to his injuries.—Agencies
