A legislative body of Upper House of Parliament on Thursday directed the Establishment Division to provide details of all those civil servants having dual citizenships, who come under the ambit of Cabinet and Establishment division in the next meeting.
The issue was discussed in Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, which was held in parliament house with Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad in the chair. Members of the committee were of the view that there were other civil servants like judiciary, military establishment, who remained on higher ranks but they possess dual nationality. However, chairman of the committee was of the view that these matters would be discussed in next meeting. The committee also sought details of those dual citizens, if exists in Law and Justice and Defence Ministry also conjured.
The Committee decided to draft TORs pertaining to the matters of PTDC, which will be laid in the House, before regulating an inquiry against the Corporation. They will be held accountable if found wicked, said the Chairman.
While discussing the “The Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill, 2022, it was informed that no new induction, except from Kashmir in civil services, will take place unless the dual citizen surrender one citizenship. Prime Minister has suggested terminating those civil servants from services who do not quit the nationality of other country within six months, Secretary Establishment division remarked. The committee decided to deliberate on the suggestion put forward by the PM in the next meeting.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan suggested confining Civil Servants
