Senators demand better facilities for FC

Islamabad—Senators from both sides of the divide on Monday demanded provision of better facilities, salaries and training to Frontier Constabulary (FC) keeping in view their important role in law and order situation of the country.
The motion moved by ANP Senator Shahi Syed said that employees of FC were facing hardships due to inadequacy of basic faculties like residences, uniforms, shoes, salary and allowances being provided to them. Discussing the motion, Senator Abudl Qayum said that Frontier Constabulary (FC) had important role in present internal and external threats being faced by the country.
He said that total strength of FC was around 30,000 adding up-dated weapons, salary package and transport facilities should be given to it.
He also stressed the need for increasing its potential and capacity. Senator Farhatullah Babar said that significant portion of 100 million dollar assistance by US congress for FATA stability should be spent on up-gradation of FC and its weapons.
Senator Azam Swati said that strengthen and capacity of FC and other paramilitary forces should be enhanced and demanded allocation of more budget in 2105-16. Senator Ilyas Bilour said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was war-hit province and facing multiple challenges, therefore, FC deployed in other parts of the country should be brought back to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Senator Javed Abbasi supporting the resolution said that salaries and allowances of FC should be brought at par with other para- military forces.—APP
