Senate wants quality services at federal govt hospitals

Islamabad—The Upper House of the Parliament on Monday unanimously passed a resolution urging the government to take immediate steps to provide quality services to patients at all federal government hospitals.
The resolution was moved by Senator Col (Retd) Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi. The house also unanimously passed another resolution moved by Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati regarding road accidents and casualties.
The house recommended that the government should prepare a National Safety Plan and National Transport Policy for National Highways and Motorways in the country to protect and facilitate road users.
The house in a same resolution recommended to improve traffic discipline and introduce compulsory short courses for motorists in traffic rules and road safety in order to minimize road accidents and casualties.
Supporting his resolution, Senator Swati said that he wants to present a comprehensive bill to avoid road accidents and casualties. He said that several people were dying daily in fatal accidents due to violation of traffic rules and lack of awareness on traffic rules.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab said that the government has already taken several steps to control fatal accidents and National Highway Authority and Motorway Police were efficiently working on the matter.—APP
