Senate to discuss CNICs re-verification tomorrow

Islamabad—Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Tuesday accepted an ad-journment motion to discuss the problems the peo-ple might face in consequence of the decision taken by the Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control regarding re-verification of the CNICs (Computerized National Identity Cards) of all the citizens of the country and fixed it on Thursday for debate.
The adjournment motion was moved by Mu-hammad Usman Khan Kakar in the House. However, the Chairman did not accept the adjournment motion moved by Mian Muhammad Ateeq to discuss the report of the NEPRA presented in the CCI revealing that the government had collected Rs 65 billion from electricity consumers on account of various surcharges in the year 2015.
Meanwhile, as many as two reports of various standing committees were presented in the Senate on Tuesday. Mohsin Aziz on behalf of Chairman Standing Committee on Finance Saleem Mandviwala presented the report of the committee on the bill to amend the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947 [The Foreign Exchange Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2016].
Chairman Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications Shahi Syed presented the special report of the committee for the period from May 13, 2015 to April 6, 2016.—APP
