Seminar on Children’s Rights at UoK

karachi—There are at least million kids in Pakistan are involved in child labour to earn the livelihood of their family and they are deprived of their rights of education as well.
Forty-seven percent population of Pakistan according to the definition of United Nations, consists of kids below 18 years and that means almost 80 million children are present in the country having no active and empower institution to safeguard their rights. Islam has provided equal rights to the children as Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) loved children very much.
The Rana Asif Habib patron-in-chief of the Initiator, Pakistan’s eminent NGO working for the welfare of street children said this while addressing the audience at a seminar on UN Convention on Rights of Children: National and Provincial Laws, System and Mechanism organized by University of Karachi (UoK) Department of Sociology.
He further added that UN Convention on Rights of the Childs 1989 the latest document and international convention for the protection of children rights. This convention was passed in the UN General Assembly on Nov 20, 1989 which provides social, cultural and economic rights to the children. 190 countries including Pakistan have ratified this convention. This convention has granted equal and adequate rights to the children.
