Security plan for Muharram-ul-Harram to be strictly implemented: Shahbaz


Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed to ensure implementation of security plan evolved for the protection of life and property of the people during Muharram-ul-Harram and ordered crackdown without any discrimination against those involved in provocative speeches, publication and distribution of literature based on religious hatred. Addressing a high-level meeting held to give a final shape to security plan for the protection of life and property of the masses during Muharram-ul-Harram here today, the Chief Minister said that foolproof security arrangements should be made during Muharram-ul-Harram which should be more effective than previous years.
Full attention should be paid to the security of mosques, Imam Bargahs and other worship places and implementation of 4-tier security cordon be ensured for safeguarding Majalis and processions, he added. He said that implementation of code of conduct be ensured and concerned institutions should remain vigilant in this regard.
He said that members of peace committees and elected representatives should play their due role for promoting religious harmony and utilize all their capabilities for maintaining the environment of brotherhood, accommodation and tolerance. He ordered indiscrimination crackdown against the persons involved in provocative speeches and distribution of hatred literature and said that those involved in such activities should not be spared and taken to task. Shahbaz Sharif said that negligence and laxity cannot be tolerated in the present circumstances and security agencies should utilize all out resources for establishing law and order and remain fully alert. A watch full eye be kept on anti-social elements, he added. He said that the entire nation will have to be united for making the country a haven of peace and foil the nefarious designs of the enemies while maintaining unity in its ranks.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister presided over a meeting here today to review the matters of Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute & Research Center project. Human resource, medical equipments, acquiring of machinery and other affairs of the institution came under discussion during the meeting. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan Kidney & Liver Transplant Institute & Research Center to be set up in the provincial metropolis will be a state-of-the-art institution. He said that medical facilities of international standard will be available to kidney and liver patients and free treatment will be provided to the poor and deserving patients in the institution.
He said that a state-of-the-art hepatitis clinic is being set up in the institute, which will start providing medical facilities by the end of current year. He said that work should be carried out speedily on the setting up of hepatitis clinic. Shahbaz Sharif said that the ailing humanity can be served through commitment and passion. He directed that services of professionals and talented human resource imbued with the spirit of service to the ailing humanity should be acquired for the institution.
